There has been allot of talk in Brazil lately about Smokey Robinson’s latest album “Time Flies When You are Having fun” It’s actually one of my favorite albums by Smokey. There are rumors he might be performing in Brazil soon so that explains the buzz. Lets hope the rumors are true. If you haven’t heard the tracks from the album you are missing out. When I think of Smokey Robinson I think smooth, suave, and the epitome of cool. On his latest album, Time Flies When You’re Having Fun, Robinson shows he still has that smooth sound that is timeless.

Beginning with the title track, Robinson sets the romantic tone with his sultry delivery, accompanied by soft guitar. The album was recorded with the band and Robinson performing in the studio together, and this live approach adds depth to the track. While Robinson remains one of the best song writers in the music world he proves he can interpret others’ songs as well. The first single, a cover of Nora Jones “Don’t Know Why,” shows it doesn’t matter what he sings, when he puts his signature smooth style to any track he makes it a instant classic. Two of my favorite neo-soul singers sang on the new CD with Smokey, Joss Stone and India Arie. Joss Stone duets with Robinson on the seductive “You’re The One for Me,” while India Arie joins him for “You’re Just My Life.” The songs make you want to just put them on repeat and listen to them over and over.

One of my favorite tracks on the CD is “Love Bath”. When you hear this you just gotta move. The bass line is kicking! There is a verse that says “Put Some Water In the Tub and Do The Body Rub”. Doesn’t get any better then that. When you hear it it’s one of those songs that you cant shake from your head even if you try.

Legend Carlos Santana lends a bluesy touch to “Please Don’t Take Your Love”. It has a funky vibe to it that will have your head bobbing away. Another one of my favorites.
